Renovations

Full bathroom renovations

A bathroom renovation is a plumbing job with finishes on top. Where the waste sits, whether the fall is right and how the wall cavity is built all get decided in the first week, and no amount of good tiling fixes them later.

We handle the strip-out, the rough-in, the waterproofing, the tiling and the fit-off, and coordinate the electrician. One team through the whole job means the sequencing works and nobody is waiting on anybody else.

  • Strip-out and disposal
  • Plumbing rough-in and relocation
  • Certified waterproofing
  • Wall and floor tiling
  • Fixtures, tapware and fit-off
  • Electrician coordination

Tile works

Tile works

Tiling is where a bathroom is judged, and where the shortcuts show first. Falls that do not run to the waste, a niche that was not set out before the sheeting went up and grout lines that drift are all set in place long before the tiler picks up a trowel.

We set out the whole bathroom before tiling starts, so cuts land where they should and the fall runs true. Tile works quotes are free of charge, whether it is a full bathroom, a retile over sound substrate or a single wall.

  • Full bathroom wall and floor tiling
  • Shower niches and hobs set out
  • Feature walls and mosaics
  • Retiling over sound substrate
  • Correct falls to waste
  • Free quotes on all tile works

Waterproofing

Waterproofing and compliance

Waterproofing is the part nobody sees and the part that fails most expensively. Done properly it is a certified system with the right membrane, the right coverage up the walls and the right detailing at every junction and penetration.

We waterproof to Australian Standards, document it, and certify it. If you are renovating to sell or to rent, that certificate is what proves the work was done rather than painted over.

  • Certified membrane systems
  • Shower and wet area waterproofing
  • Junctions and penetrations detailed
  • Flood testing before tiling
  • Compliance certificate issued
  • Laundries and balconies

Fixtures

Fixtures, tapware and fit-off

Tapware, shower systems and toilets vary in how they mount and what they need behind the wall. Choosing a wall-hung basin or a concealed cistern after the rough-in is done means opening the wall again.

Bring us your selections early and we will tell you what each one needs, order what makes sense, and install and commission everything at fit-off.

  • Tapware and mixer installation
  • Shower systems and rails
  • Wall-hung and concealed cisterns
  • Vanities and basins
  • Heated towel rails coordinated
  • Pressure compatibility checked

Laundries

Laundries and powder rooms

Laundries and powder rooms are the quickest wins in a house. They are small, self-contained, and can usually be done in a fraction of the time a bathroom takes without disrupting the rest of the home.

Same approach as a bathroom: plumbing relocated where needed, waterproofing certified, tiling set out properly and fixtures installed and tested. Often finished inside a week.

  • Laundry renovations
  • Powder room additions
  • Trough and machine connections
  • Relocating laundry plumbing
  • Waterproofing and tiling
  • Compact space planning

FAQ

Bathroom renovation questions we get asked

Something not covered? Call us, we will give you a straight answer over the phone.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

A standard bathroom is typically three to five weeks from strip-out to fit-off, with waterproofing curing time built in. Laundries and powder rooms are usually one to two weeks. The biggest delays are almost always product lead times, so confirming selections early is the best way to keep the job moving.

Do you quote for tiling on its own?

Yes, and tile works quotes are free of charge. That covers full bathrooms, retiling over sound substrate, feature walls and floors. Send us photos of the space and we can usually give you a number without needing to visit first.

Can you move the toilet or shower?

Usually, but it depends on where your waste runs and what fall is available. We check that on site before you commit to a layout, because relocating a waste changes both the cost and what is possible in the space.

Is the waterproofing certified?

Yes. We waterproof to Australian Standards, flood test before tiling and issue a compliance certificate. If a previous renovation has no waterproofing certificate, assume it needs redoing rather than tiling over.

Should I buy my own tapware and fixtures?

You can, and plenty of clients do. Send us your selections before the rough-in so we can check that each item is compatible with your pressure and that anything needing framing or a wall cavity is built in early.

What does it cost to get someone out?

Call us and we will talk it through properly. Every job is different, so we would rather understand what is happening than quote a generic number. No surprises, upfront pricing.

Can you quote without visiting?

Often, yes. Send photos of the issue and we can usually quote free of charge, for general maintenance and hot water work. If we find further issues on site we will let you know before doing anything.

Which parts of Melbourne do you cover?

All of Bayside Melbourne, from Mordialloc through Sandringham and Brighton up to St Kilda, Port Melbourne and the CBD, plus the inland Bayside and Glen Eira suburbs.
