Emergency
Emergency blocked drain clearing in Melbourne
A blocked sewer that is backing up into the house is an emergency, not an inconvenience. Overflowing gully traps, a toilet that rises instead of draining and sewage smells inside all mean the line is full and needs clearing now.
We clear the blockage first to stop the damage, then camera the line to find out what caused it. You get told whether it was a one-off or a structural problem worth fixing properly.
- Rapid emergency response
- Toilet, sink and shower blockages
- Sewer and stormwater lines
- Overflowing gully traps
- Blockage cleared, then inspected
- Clean-up after the job
Jetting
High-pressure water jetting
A cable machine punches a hole through a blockage. High-pressure jetting scours the full diameter of the pipe, cutting through roots, grease and sediment and leaving the wall of the line clean rather than coated.
That difference matters for recurring blockages. A hole through a grease build-up closes again within weeks, while a properly jetted line drains like it did when it was new.
- Root cutting and removal
- Grease and fat build-up
- Sediment and scale
- Sewer and stormwater lines
- Commercial and residential
- Camera check after jetting
Inspections
CCTV drain camera inspections
Guessing at what is wrong underground is expensive. A camera survey shows the condition of the pipe, the exact location of the fault and how deep it sits, before anyone picks up a shovel.
We provide full detailed reports with footage and locations, which is what you want before buying a property, after a recurring blockage, or when an insurer needs evidence of what failed.
- Full line survey with footage
- Fault located and depth marked
- Pre-purchase drain inspections
- Insurance and evidence reports
- Root intrusion assessment
- Pipe condition and grade check
Tree roots
Tree root removal
Tree roots are the most common cause of recurring blockages in Bayside Melbourne, because the older clay lines under these suburbs have joints that leak just enough moisture to attract them.
We cut the roots out with jetting, camera the line to see how they got in, and give you the options: periodic maintenance, a spot repair at the joint, or relining the section so they cannot return.
- Mechanical and jetted root cutting
- Entry point identified on camera
- Spot repairs at damaged joints
- Relining to prevent regrowth
- Scheduled preventative clearing

Repairs
Pipe relining & drain repairs
Not every damaged drain needs the garden dug up. Relining installs a new resin liner inside the existing pipe, curing in place to form a jointless pipe within a pipe, usually without excavation.
Where a section has collapsed or the grade is wrong, excavation is the honest answer and we will say so. Either way you get the camera footage, the options and the price before anything starts.
- No-dig pipe relining
- Collapsed section replacement
- Broken joint spot repairs
- Grade and fall correction
- Gully and inspection point repairs
- Post-repair camera verification

FAQ
Blocked drain questions we get asked
Something not covered? Call us, we will give you a straight answer over the phone.
How quickly can you clear a blocked drain?
Anything backing up into the house is treated as an emergency callout, and we get to you as quickly as we can. Call us and we will give you a realistic time over the phone.
Why does my drain keep blocking?
Recurring blockages almost always mean a structural cause: tree roots entering at a joint, a cracked section, or a length of pipe with the wrong fall. Clearing it without a camera inspection just resets the clock. That is why we camera the line after clearing.
What is the difference between jetting and a cable machine?
A cable machine bores a hole through the blockage so water can pass. Jetting scours the full diameter of the pipe with high-pressure water, removing the build-up rather than punching through it. Jetted lines stay clear much longer.
Do I need a CCTV inspection?
It is worth it if a drain has blocked more than once, if you are buying an older property, or if an insurer needs evidence. Bayside has many original clay sewer lines, and knowing their condition before you buy is far cheaper than discovering it afterwards.
Can a damaged drain be fixed without digging?
Often, yes. Pipe relining installs a resin liner inside the existing pipe which cures in place, forming a jointless new pipe without excavation. It suits cracked or root-damaged lines with good fall. A collapsed pipe or one with the wrong grade needs excavation, and we will tell you plainly which one you have.
What does it cost to get someone out?
Call us and we will talk it through properly. Every job is different, so we would rather understand what is happening than quote a generic number. No surprises, upfront pricing.
Can you quote without visiting?
Often, yes. Send photos of the issue and we can usually quote free of charge, for general maintenance and hot water work. If we find further issues on site we will let you know before doing anything.
Is the camera inspection included?
We tell you upfront whether a camera survey is part of the clearing price or quoted separately, which depends on the job. Either way you know the number before we start, and you get the footage and the report regardless of what we find.
Which parts of Melbourne do you cover?
All of Bayside Melbourne, from Mordialloc through Sandringham and Brighton up to St Kilda, Port Melbourne and the CBD, plus the inland Bayside and Glen Eira suburbs.
