Burst pipes

Burst pipes and flooding

A burst pipe does more damage per hour than almost anything else in a house. The first job is not the repair, it is stopping the flow, which usually means the mains tap at the meter out the front.

Once the water is off we locate the failure, replace the section and pressure test the line. Where a run has failed more than once, we will tell you honestly whether patching it again is worth doing.

  • Immediate make-safe
  • Burst and split pipe repair
  • Failed joint replacement
  • Water damage minimised
  • Line pressure tested
  • Insurance documentation available

Gas

Gas leaks and gas emergencies

A gas smell is never something to leave until tomorrow. Turn the gas off at the meter if you can do it safely, open the doors and windows, and do not touch light switches or anything that could create a spark.

We attend gas emergencies as priority callouts, pressure test the line to isolate the loss, repair the fault and certify the line before handing it back. Licensed gas plumbers, documented every time.

  • Priority gas leak response
  • Pressure and drop testing
  • Leak located and repaired
  • Appliance isolation
  • Emergency gas line repairs
  • Certified before handover

Sewer

Blocked sewer and overflows

Sewage backing up into the house or overflowing at the gully trap means the line is full. Every additional flush adds to what has to go somewhere, so the first step is to stop using every fixture on that line.

We clear the blockage to stop the overflow, then camera the line to establish what caused it. You get told whether it was a one-off or a structural problem worth addressing properly.

  • Emergency sewer clearing
  • Overflowing gully traps
  • High-pressure jetting
  • Camera inspection after clearing
  • Commercial and residential
  • Clean-up after the job

Hot water

No hot water

No hot water is not usually a middle-of-the-night emergency, but a hot water unit leaking from the tank body is, because it will keep releasing water until the supply is isolated.

If the unit is simply not heating, we can often diagnose it over the phone and attend the same day. If it is leaking, turn off the isolation valve at the unit and call us.

  • Same-day hot water response
  • Pilot light and ignition faults
  • Leaking unit isolation
  • Thermostat and element failures
  • Replacement units stocked
  • Certified on completion

After hours

After hours and weekends

Plumbing emergencies do not respect business hours. We answer after hours on 0458 872 659, and we operate seven days: Monday to Friday from 6am, Saturday from 7am and Sunday from 8am.

When you call after hours you speak to a licensed plumber, not a call centre reading from a script. If it can safely wait until morning we will tell you that, and tell you exactly what to do in the meantime.

FAQ

Emergency plumbing questions we get asked

Something not covered? Call us, we will give you a straight answer over the phone.

Are you a 24 hour plumber?

We operate seven days, from 6am weekdays, 7am Saturday and 8am Sunday, with an after-hours line on 0458 872 659 for genuine emergencies outside those times. When you call you speak to a licensed plumber rather than a call centre, and if it can safely wait until morning we will tell you that.

What should I do while I wait for you?

For water, turn the mains off at the meter, usually a tap in a small box near the front boundary. For gas, turn it off at the meter if you can do so safely, open doors and windows and do not touch any switches. For a blocked sewer, stop using every fixture on that line.

What counts as a real emergency?

Anything releasing water or gas that you cannot isolate: a burst pipe, a gas leak, sewage backing up into the house, or a hot water unit leaking from the tank body. No hot water on its own is usually a same-day job rather than an overnight one.

Do you charge more after hours?

Call us and we will discuss it with you directly before attending. You will know what is involved before we come out, and there are no charges added afterwards that were not discussed.

What does it cost to get someone out?

Call us and we will talk it through properly. Every job is different, so we would rather understand what is happening than quote a generic number. No surprises, upfront pricing.

Can you quote without visiting?

Often, yes. Send photos of the issue and we can usually quote free of charge, for general maintenance and hot water work. If we find further issues on site we will let you know before doing anything.

Which parts of Melbourne do you cover?

All of Bayside Melbourne, from Mordialloc through Sandringham and Brighton up to St Kilda, Port Melbourne and the CBD, plus the inland Bayside and Glen Eira suburbs.
