Gas leaks

Gas leak detection & repair

If you can smell gas, treat it as urgent. Turn off the meter, open the windows, avoid switches and call us. Gas leaks are one of the few plumbing faults where waiting until tomorrow is not an option.

We pressure test the line to locate the gas leak, and repair or replace the affected section. The line is retested and certified before we hand it back to you.

  • Emergency leak response
  • Pressure and drop testing
  • Leak location without guesswork
  • Meter to appliance testing
  • Corroded line replacement
  • Certified on completion

Appliances

Gas appliance installation

Hot water units and outdoor kitchens all need the right gas supply behind them, not just a connection point. An appliance starved of pressure will never run the way the brochure promised.

We check the capacity of your existing line before we quote, install to manufacturer clearances, commission the appliance and issue the certificate. Old appliances are disconnected and removed.

  • Gas hot water units
  • Outdoor kitchens and BBQ points
  • Old appliance disconnection
  • Commissioning and certification

Kitchens

Cooktops, ovens & kitchen gas

Kitchen gas work is the job most often done badly, because it is the one people try to slot in around a renovation. A cooktop needs correct clearance to combustibles, the right size line and a compliant isolation valve within reach.

We work alongside your cabinetmaker and electrician, rough in the gas before the benchtop goes on, and come back to connect and commission once the stone is in. One trade, two visits, no delays.

  • Cooktop supply and connection
  • Freestanding oven connection
  • Bayonet points and isolation valves
  • Clearance to combustibles checked
  • Renovation rough-in and fit-off
  • Certificate issued on completion

Gas lines

Gas line installation & relocation

Adding a second appliance, extending to an outdoor kitchen or moving the meter all change what your existing line can carry. We size the run properly rather than teeing off the nearest pipe and hoping.

New runs are installed in copper or approved poly, pressure tested, and documented. If your supply genuinely cannot carry the load, we will tell you before the work starts, not after.

  • New gas line installation
  • Line extensions and relocations
  • Meter relocation coordination
  • Correct sizing for total load
  • Underground and in-wall runs
  • Pressure tested and certified

FAQ

Gas plumber questions we get asked

Something not covered? Call us, we will give you a straight answer over the phone.

I can smell gas. What should I do right now?

Turn off the gas at the meter if you can reach it safely, open doors and windows, and do not touch light switches or anything that could spark. Leave the property if the smell is strong and call us from outside. We treat gas leaks as emergency callouts.

Do I get a compliance certificate?

Yes. Every gas installation we complete is certified, the paperwork is issued to you, and a copy is lodged as required. If a job involves gas and you are not offered a certificate, that is a warning sign.

How often do rental properties need a gas safety check?

Victorian rental providers must arrange a gas safety check by a licensed gas fitter every two years, and keep records of the most recent check. We run these on a schedule and issue detailed reports for your property manager.

Can you connect my new cooktop during a kitchen renovation?

Yes, and the timing matters. We rough in the gas before the benchtop is templated, then return to connect and commission once the stone is installed. Retrofitting after the fact is far more expensive.

Can my existing gas line run another appliance?

Sometimes, but not always. Total appliance load determines the pipe size needed. We calculate it before quoting, because an undersized line leaves every appliance underperforming rather than failing outright.

What does it cost to get someone out?

Call us and we will talk it through properly. Every job is different, so we would rather understand what is happening than quote a generic number. No surprises, upfront pricing.

Can you quote without visiting?

Often, yes. Send photos of the issue and we can usually quote free of charge, for general maintenance and hot water work. If we find further issues on site we will let you know before doing anything.

Is the compliance certificate included in the price?

Yes. Certification is part of the job, not an extra line at the end. When we quote a gas installation, the testing, commissioning and compliance certificate are included in the number you are given.

Which parts of Melbourne do you cover?

All of Bayside Melbourne, from Mordialloc through Sandringham and Brighton up to St Kilda, Port Melbourne and the CBD, plus the inland Bayside and Glen Eira suburbs.
